Lindenlea Community Centre

is a non-profit recreational center serving the residents of the Lindenlea, New Edinburgh, Rockcliffe Park, Beachwood and Vanier areas.
The LCC offers many activities both indoors and outdoors. There are classes and courses ranging from arts and crafts to fitness and well being. There is something for everyone.

One of the most successful and longest running programs offered at the center is World Taekwondo taught by Master Taylor Haas. In 1993 Master Taylor Haas established the first Taekwondo class at the Lindenlea Community Center in affiliation with Grand Master Tae Eun Lee (9th Dan) Moo Kwang Taekwondo school.

Grandmaster Lee is a native of South Korea. In 1977 Grandmaster Lee opened his first school in Ottawa. He is the only Korean Grandmaster in Ottawa and is one of the major promoters of the art and sport of Taekwondo in Canada.

Grandmaster Lee developed the Moo Kwang philosophy, reflecting his belief that Taekwondo can unite the mind, body, and spirit. The Philosophy of Moo Kwang Taekwondo begins with the name of the martial art itself.

The interpretation of the words are: Moo is non-stop and eternal. Kwang  is brightness. Moo Kwang emphasizes focus on three main aspects of your life. By giving each the required energy you will lead a successful life.

For almost 30 years, Master Taylor Haas has had hundreds of students ranging from 5 to 70 years old. People come from all over the Ottawa area to learn and train at LCC TKD.

Master Haas has taught students up to the ranks of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Dan black belt. All black belt promotions are conducted by Korean Grandmaster Tae Eun Lee (WT 9th Dan). Lindenlea Taekwondo black belts are certified with the Kukkiwon, the head quarters of World Taekwondo in Seoul Korea.
